Vision Statement

The lifestyle of a single-parent household automatically comes with its own set of built in circumstances and/or needs. It is how these households are able to handle the disparate aspects of their circumstances that can be the difference between raising physically and emotionally healthy kids and sustaining a productive and emotionally stable household, and that of being a family that is unable to sustain as a unit with the inability to guide their young ones to successful adulthood. In all families, difficulties arise that have the ability to weigh heavily on the stability of the family. However, when one of the stabilizing factors is missing, that of the second parent, whatever problems that do arise are generally amplified.

At the Michael Kel Williams Foundation, Inc. we believe in the adage that “it takes a village” and also believe that in the case of single parent households it is our responsibility to be a part of that village. Using a three-prong approach we endeavor to assist single parent households by attempting to meet the needs of our participating parents and their families by first providing the essentials they need in times of peril. Secondly and thirdly we council with the families and provide parenting education as well home financial education. Our ultimate goal is to use our support to help our participants and participant families grow to be self-sustaining stable family units that have the ability to guide their young ones to successful adulthood.
